In contrast, students in Finland start school at a rather slow compared to other countries, namely at the age of 7 years, and at their school just a little more, which is only 30 hours per week. Compare with Korea, ranking second only to Finland, where students spend 50 hours per week.

The teaching profession itself is a highly valued profession, even though their pay is not fantastic. The best high school graduates would normally apply for admission in schools of education, and only 1 of 7 applicants can be accepted. Competition is tighter than go to law school or medicine!
If other nations believe that the testing and evaluation for students is a very important part of quality education, Finland actually believe that the examination and testing that destroyed the purpose of student learning. Too much testing makes us tend to teach the students to simply get away from the exam, said a teacher in Finland.
At 18 years of students taking the exam to determine their qualifications in colleges and two-thirds of the graduates go on to college.
Students are taught to evaluate themselves, even from Pre-Kindergarten!
